About
The name ShadowCrew used to belong to a ring of cybercriminals in the early 2000s. I have never been affiliated with any part of that organization. My use of the name is ironic as it now stands as a symbol against data theft and identity exploitation. Call it a rebranding.
In the past, the "shadows" of the internet were where our private data was traded like a commodity. Today, we live in a world where our digital identity is assaulted openly by both cybercriminals and legitimate—if unethical—business and government operations. And so I say, let’s reclaim the shadows. ShadowCrew.net is a community-centric movement inviting all to step out of the invasive spotlight of modern digital surveillance.
Our mission is to protect, empower, and assert our personhood in a digital world.
I am a cybersecurity engineer with a master’s degree and 10+ years experience in the industry. As I’ve learned more about how my own personal data is used and how to secure it, I’ve come to realize that we have the ability to take control and don’t need to upheave our lives to do so.
It used to be that I got more questions about which nation states were attacking us. Its more common that I get questions about data privacy now.
